I am a sucker for new skincare and makeup products. And I can spend quite a lot of money on it. But if I can get something cheaper, or for free, then I’m all over it. At the moment I’m trying to curb spending, especially as I have too much already. Here are some ways you can cheap or free makeup products.
Make the most of the birthday freebies for free makeup
Quite a few brands will do freebies around your birthday. If you sign up for a Debenhams Beauty Card you can get a free oxygen facial with Elizabeth Arden. And a free wax at the Benefit brow Bar. Just head to the counters with your cards.
If you sign up for an Ndulge loyalty card with Space NK you get a free £5 birthday voucher. And the same at the Body Shop if you sign up for a rewards card. I love The Body Shop hand creams and got myself one for free when it was my birthday earlier this year. You may not be able to get free makeup from Space NK but it’s still a good discount if you’re planning on buying something.
Get a free Lush facemask for recycling
Most people probably know this Lush hack. But if you take back five clean Lush black pots you can get a free fresh face mask. So not only are you getting a free mask but you’re helping Lush to reuse their pots. The pots go to the warehouse to get cleaned and re-used so you’re helping the environment.
Most of what I use from Lush doesn’t come in black pots so I’ve been saving mine for a while. But just one more pot to use up and I can grab myself a free face mask.
Get free makeup and skincare from Glamour Beauty Club
The Glamour Beauty Club was created by Glamour Magazine. And it’s been around for quite a while in different incarnations. All you have to do is sign up for free on their website and answer some questions about your routine, skin type etc. Then anytime products that are suitable for you are available you’ll get an email. If you agree to get the product you’ll usually get a trial/ mini-size item. But I have had some full-size products like hair masks before.
When you’re done they send you a quick survey so you can give your opinion on the product/ brand. I’ve had some really cool items through the Glamour Beauty Club including Elizabeth Arden capsules.
Free lipstick with Mac recycling
A few other brands offer recycling programmes, and at Mac if you return 6 of their containers you can get a free lipstick of your choice. The packaging includes the black plastic around their eyeshadows or lipsticks. Or bottles from their foundation or concealer.
Free makeup is a winner for free. And Mac lipsticks are a great incentive to recycle your packaging properly.
Grab free samples at beauty counters
Not so much at the moment when most counters don’t have samples out for you to try. But when they do a lot of places will offer you samples before you commit to buying. This is especially important for things like concealers and foundations which is reliant on the right shade. And you’ll want to see how it lasts and applies. I wouldn’t buy a new foundation without trying a sample myself. I know that I’m likely to apply foundation differently from a makeup artist.
There’s no harm in asking for samples as you’ll get enough for a free applications. And this free makeup will help you make up your mind as to whether it’s worth buying.
